The EPCOT World Showcase

I recently returned from a trip to Disney World, Florida with my family. I learned a few interesting things while in Florida, and I thought I would share them with you. I will start with what was the highlight of my trip, the World Showcase.

I'm sure many of you have heard of the EPCOT World Showcase, a large part of the park, featuring 11 countries centered around a scenic lagoon. I didn't have time to stop at each country, but I will share with you what I learned.

Norway
Norway is a definite must for people with kids. This country is home to the Maelstrom, Akershus and Elsa and Anna.
The Maelstrom is a boat ride through Norway's water life, modern and ancient, along with a view of some magical trolls. This ride may be slightly scary for children. There are 2 very small drops, neither in the dark, which is easy for very young children to ride. The most frightening part is when there is a close up of a troll. Most children will be okay with this, it is a very easy ride.
Akershus is an amazing restaurant. The food isn't exactly exceptional, but if you get lunch reservations, you get to meet all of the princesses (except Cinderella, Mulan and Pocahontas). This is a great place to eat lunch if you have children.
And while the Elsa and Anna meet-and-greet is self explanatory, you should be warned that there is a 5 hour wait on a good day.

Italy
I did not go to any activities in Italy, but the scenic courtyard is a must if you want some really great photos.

Japan
The best thing about the Japan Pavilion is by far the Pick-a Pearl experience. Here is how it goes..You walk to any cashier, and purchase a receipt ( I believe for 16.00$). You then go to the Pick-A-Pearl station and are given a number. When the lady calls your number, you pick a oyster, she will teach you to count to 3 in japanese, then she will open your oyster and give you the option of purchasing a setting for your pearl. Here are some tips...When the person opening you pearl bows to you, bow back, it is a sign of respect. Always pick the hairiest oysters. And here is how to count to 3 in Japanese. Sun, Knee, Itchi (that is how it sounds, not how to spell it).

Morocco
Here is a great place to meet Jasmine and Aladdin. They also sell tiny little magic lamp replicas, and very pretty clothes. You can also catch some great musicians, and belly dancers out in the air.

France
This was a personal favourite of mine. There are some great perfume shops and Berets in this little forum. You can also get some of the most chocolaty ice cream on the planet (it's still amazing). And if you order an eclair, be prepared for a thick chocolate filling. And don't miss the film Impressions de France, for a delightful view into an amazing country.

United Kingdom
England is amazing. Here you can meet Mary Poppins and Alice. If you like Fish N' Chips there is a great fishshop by the water. And don't miss the World Showcase Players, an improv group that involves the crowd. And if you live British soccer or Doctor Who, you simply must check out all of the shops. They have some great Doctor Who gear.
