Disney Facts that Will Blow Your Mind!!!

1. Walt Disney's original last name wasn't Disney! Walt's great grandfather's last name was d'Isigny , he changed it in the 1870s. I can't imagine d'Isigny Land being just as popular. Can you?

2. Mickey Mouse's original name was going to be Mortimer Mouse. Walt's wife Lily didn't like the name because it sounded too pompous, and suggested a cuter name, Mickey. Mortimer would later make appearances in Mickey comics and cartoons. He was a Mickey's rival for Minnie. He was rude, selfish and sexist, in other words, the exact opposite of Mickey.

3. When Disney announced his plans for a full-length animated movie, critics, producers and directors alike believed the idea would flop. The project was deemed Disney's Folly. This didn't stop Walt though. On December 21st 1937, the film premiered, and became an instant success. The film was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

4. Wayne Anthony Allwine, who was the voice of Mickey Mouse for 32 years, married Russi Taylor, the voice of Minnie, in 1991.  They were happily married until 2009 when Wayne passed away.

5. Mickey Mouse was the first animated character to receive a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

6.Walt Disney's attention to detail was legendary. He placed garbage bins exactly 25 steps away from each hot dog cart, because that was how long it took him to eat a hot dog

7. Mickey only has four fingers on each hand because animators thought he looked strange with five. The fact that he's a talking mouse wearing clothes didn't seem strange to them at all.

8. The Lion King was originally called King of the Jungle, until some genius realized that Lions don't live in the jungle.

9. Disney World is only second to the US Army when it comes to purchasing explosives in the United States. I'm pretty sure it's for the incredible Firework shows, instead of a plot to take over the world.

10. Snow White is both the oldest and the youngest Disney Princess. Her official age is 14 years old, but she was created in 1937, 13 years before the next princess Cinderella.

There you go, 10 random Disney facts!!
