MUSHU
While it can be debated if Mushu is a true animal sidekick (he can talk, communicates with dead people, and is a mythological creature) Mushu is still the reason Mulan got so far. And furthermore, Mushu is probably the only sidekick to display actual character development. Going from a self-absorbed dragon bent on using Mulan, to a true friend who helped her save China.
SVEN
Sven is a cute, lovable reindeer for the film Frozen. One of the best things about Sven is that, not only is he Kristoff's best friend, but he also spends much of the movie trying to get Anna and Kristoff together, making him again, one of the only sidekicks to truly influence the plot. He brings Kristoff back to Arendelle to save Anna, and he encourages his friend to go on alone to save her. Sven is a truly brilliant character.
ABU
Abu is Aladdin's best friend, which only reinforces my idea that all the best guys are animal lovers. Abu is a talented thief, managing to break Aladdin out of prison, steal the lamp from the evil Jafar, and he also discovers the magic carpet. Granted, he also almost brings down the Cave of Wonders, but hey, that's water under the bridge.
IAGO
Another Aladdin character, Iago is the only animal on this list to actually be working for the enemy. Despite the fact that he's a class A jerk, Iago still is one of the characters that sticks in your mind after the film. He is wonderfully rude, sarcastic and intelligent, making him a very influential character.
PEGASUS
Pegasus is a legendary mythological flying horse. The Disney version happens to have the brain of a bird, making him a very adorable character. Something I love about the character is that he has a bad feeling about Meg from the beginning of the film Hercules. While Meg ended up being a good person, This still proves that animals are the best judges of character.
GUS AND JAQ
Gus and Jaq are loyal friends of Cinderella. Jaq discovers Gus trapped in a mouse trap. After his rescue the two become great friends. Together they risk their lives to make Cinderella's dreams come true. After this attempt is foiled by the ugly stepsisters, Gus and Jaq are transformed into horses to pull Cinderella's carriage. They are later the ones to help her escape from her locked room and get the glass slipper.
TIMON AND PUMBAA
Timon and Pumbaa are two character with a problem free philosophy. Despite their Hakuna Matata beliefs, they prove themselves to be true and loyal friends to Simba. They risk their lives fighting Scar and his hyenas, and stay best friends with Simba throughout their lives (as seen in the Lion King II).
SEBASTIAN
Sebastian is an uptight, hermit crab who works for Ariel's father, King Triton. He is initially unsupporting of the idea that Ariel has become human, but he later aids her in wooing Prince Eric. He sings two amazing songs, Under the Sea, which was him trying to convince Ariel to stay away from humans (good job), and Kiss the Girl, which almost worked until Ursula's evil little minions ruined everything.
PASCAL
Pascal is Rapunzel's only friend during her years locked up in the tower. Him and Flynn quickly become enemies. With Pascal having full control over Flynn and Maximus. Pascal tries to defend Rapunzel to the end even getting injured in the process.
MAXIMUS
Maximus is yet another truly lovable character. While he serves as a antagonist for the first half of the film, he later agrees to not arrest Flynn Rider, after being threatened by Pascal. He truly ends up aiding Flynn escape form prison, by bringing the criminals to the palace.
